THE COURTYARD

The Courtyard will be open for refreshments and/or pre-booked food platters, picnics boxes or hampers on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 11am – 4pm. If the weather is due to be a wee bit dreich we can make use of the Cloister, making sure the tables are at least two metres apart to keep you all warm and dry!

All bookings and refreshments must be booked in advance, by 1800 the night prior. You can book by emailing info@lindoresabbeydistillery.com

THE RULES: a wee reminder about social distancing and household mixing rules. Currently we are only allowed to mix with up to six other people from no more than two households (including your own household but excluding children of 12 and under) and we should all be trying to adhere to social distancing 2m guidelines even when mixing, unless they are part of a ‘bubble’. In addition, it is mandatory that visitors to the distillery and courtyard must wear their masks whenever they are not seated at a table for eating and drinking. As our teachers used to say ‘we aren’t making up these rules for fun, they are for your (and our staff’s) safety” , so please be kind to our team when they respectfully ask you to adhere to them. As a business we have a responsibility to our staff and ourselves to keep everyone as safe as possible and if we are not able to do this, we will not be able to open to the public.

WHISKY AND HISTORY TOURS

From July 2020 we will be hosting small pre-booked whisky and history tours and tastings within the visitor centre and abbey ruins.  The Visitor Centre itself is not currently open to the public. These will be available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1130 / 1300 and 1430. The tours will be £10 per person and will include a Guidebook and tasting. Parts of the distillery will not be open to the public, but we have prepared a series of films that will tell you all about the production of whisky at this historic site.

We are hosting slightly different but still highly enjoyable, tours at the moment as we cannot take guests into the main distillery hall itself. The tours start in our Apothecary with a short film introduction, after which our guide takes you on a tour of the exhibition in our Cloister, then our distillery manager and cask custodian have made a super wee video about the whisky making process and its maturation. The final part of the tour is in the picturesque Lindores Abbey ruins and guests are given one of our illustrated guide books to help them to explore the ruins and as a memento to take home. These tours last around an hour.

REFRESHMENTS : The Courtyard bar will be open for pre-booked food platters, picnics boxes or hampers on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 11am – 4pm.

All Tours and refreshments must be booked in advance, by 1800 the night prior. You can book by emailing info@lindoresabbeydistillery.com

The plan is to try to make things as simple as possible for couples who want to get married this summer. It’s been stressful enough without trying to organise wedding plans. We work with couples to come up with their ideal menu, choose flowers and drinks. We can recommend photographers and videographers who have worked with us before and so know the tricks of the light, humanists, ministers or registrars who are all super flexible when it comes to adapting to the vagaries of the weather and even bands, pipers and quartets who could provide some musical input should they fancy that.

HOW TO SUPPORT US

We would like to say how incredibly touched we have been by the support from everybody on the Lindores Team, the messages and understanding they have demonstrated have been overwhelming. We also wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has got in touch asking how they can support us, which means a huge amount as we are a small, family business and your support is what will allow us to weather the storm and keep our staff safe, healthy and secure.

We are still able to send out orders as we use couriers, so you can support us by buying Aqua VitaeNew Make Spirit, or our MembershipsGift Vouchers for Afternoon Teas and Distillery Tours and of course Elliot our cask custodian will be on hand to chat to interested parties about 2020 whisky casks.

If any locals want to collect their purchases we can organise that with a pre-arranged pick up window.  Just contact helen@lindoresabbeydistillery.com

We wish everybody best wishes at this trying time and hope that you all remain safe and well.
