Hyrneside

Hyrneside is a quiet countryside base on the South Banks of the River Tay.

35 minutes from St Andrews and 50 minutes from Edinburgh, Old Parkhill Cottage, on the farm, is a beautifully restored 3 bedroom farm cottage (sleeps 6), featuring pared-back Modern Rustic design and acres of farmland and trails to explore. Just a few minutes drive/walk from the distillery.

For centuries, our farm was known as Hyrneside. Until the end of the Middle Ages, a vast dark forest hid much of its secrets and resources. It provided stone from the Prince of Scotland’s quarries for the monks to build their ‘church by the water’; cover for one of William Wallace’s last skirmishes; timber for ship building; a playground for royalty; freshwater springs and hillside to raise livestock; and fields, reclaimed from the Tay, to grow grains and fruit.

We’ve begun restoring the humble stone buildings that were left behind, creating beautiful places to stay in the Scottish countryside. Our first property, Old Parkhill, opened in June 2021.
