Friar Joh Cor Cask Strength Congregation Chapter III

An exquisite and unique single malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-bourbon, Amontillado sherry, and Pedro-Ximenez sherry casks, then vatted and allowed to marry in Sherry butts

Non-chill filtered and bottled onsite at cask strength of 60.2%. Offering a sweet, inviting nose with treacle, red apples, honey and dried fruits, the palate then reveals a rich mix of dark syrup, raisins, warm spices and dark chocolate. All of this is carried by a velvety texture with a lingering finish of chocolate fudge and sweet cinnamon.

Housed in an elegant black bottle, this dram celebrates the rich history of Lindores, and the man to whom we owe it all, Friar John Cor himself.

Available through selected stockists and in our online shop from June 9th 2025.

Casks of Lindores

Casks of Lindores

These ‘Casks of Lindores’ releases were originally released and sold exclusively through selected stockists but are now also for sale online through our SHOP.

Packaged in the distinctive Lindores bottle and livery with colour specific base labels these bottlings are bottled at the distillery without chill filtration and at our Lindores bottling strength of 49.4%.

The first “Casks of Lindores” bottling featured exclusively bourbon barrels, one of the three core cask types used at Lindores, and was limited to 11,000 bottles. We believe that the Lindores spirit goes extremely well with bourbon casks and helps showcase its early maturing characteristic. The very long wash fermentation period in our Douglas fir washbacks, coupled with our “Sister Spirit stills distillation” helps create a spirit that matures early but we also believe will continue to develop over time.

Our tasting notes are: Colour – Pale gold | Nose – Mellow vanilla, fruity, vibrant and buttery with citrus touches and a hint of pepper from the wood | Palate – Vanilla mixed with orchard fruits like green apples, then peppercorns, lingering with a long finish.

The second “Casks of Lindores” bottling features exclusively STR Wine Barriques. Matured exclusively in Shaved, Toasted and Recharred Red Wine Barriques from Spain.

Our Tasting Notes: Colour – Dark Chestnut | Nose – Mellow fruity apricot jam, toffee notes and a hint of cinnamon combined with butter and custard | Palate – Sweet and spices. Mellow plums and red berries, treacle, cinnamon spice and a pleasant woody smoky note. Very smooth, silky texture | Finish – Medium to long with spices, honey and caramel notes

The third “Casks of Lindores” bottling completes the set, and was matured exclusively in Oloroso Sherry Butts from the area around the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.

Our tasting notes are: Colour: Auburn | Nose: Mellow fruity prunes, dates, molasse, touches of vanilla and milk chocolate | Palate: Mellow dried fruits, molasse, dark chocolate with layers of cinnamon and ginger combined with a pleasant nuttiness like walnuts and chestnuts. Smooth texture | Finish: Medium to long.

The Makar’s Malt II

In 2024 we were thrilled to be selected to produce The Makar’s Malt II, a charity collaboration between Kathleen Jamie, the Scots Makar (Scotland’s national poet), and the Scotch Whisky Association.

Released on World Whisky Day, the 18th May 2024 in a limited edition of just 481 bottles, this single malt Scotch Whisky marked Kathleen Jamie’s tenure as Makar and was a heartfelt ode to Scottish heritage.

With every bottle sold, 10% was donated to the Makar’s Legacy Fund, supporting the vibrant voices of contemporary Scottish poets in a professionally recorded podcast series of interviews and readings.

Lindores Abbey Distillery Exclusives

DISTILLERY EXCLUSIVES

At different times throughout the year we have single cask distillery exclusive bottlings available in our shop, just for pilgrims who make their way to the Spiritual Home of Scotch whisky.

As a small, family run Scottish distillery, we wanted to be able to find a way to keep the distillery alive and productive during the quieter months, when visitors can be a bit scarce on the ground. These bottles are not available online and cannot be bought over the phone or set aside.

Lindores Abbey Distillery - Commemorative Release

Lindores Single Malt Scotch Whisky MCDXCIV (1494) “Commemorative First Release”

The first 12,750 bottles of our Single Malt were commemoratively labelled to celebrate our launch.

They were ONLY available to the public from specialist stockists in the UK.

We made the decision to sell them exclusively through our distributors and the whisky shops that have supported us over the last few years, and who we could in turn support.
