Learning all about the processes and history of whisky making on one of our Distillery or Apothecary Tours at Lindores Abbey Distillery, after a break of 523 years. Find out what goes into producing whisky, and once you’ve learned the ins and outs of distilling, you’ll be able to try two delicious drams for yourself! We even provide little takeaways for the drivers so no need to drink and drive.
If you are needing a bit of refreshment while you are visiting us or taking a tour, we have self-serve hot and cold drinks as well as a selection of fruit, cakes, crisps and other snacks available.
For light lunches and a more extensive menu, we are very lucky to have some fantastic local eateries nearby such as the Buttercup Café and Café Alice. The Buttercup Cafe is at the end of our road and Cafe Alice is in Newburgh, just 2 minutes drive, or 5 minutes walk away.
WHISKY AND CHAMPAGNE AFTERNOON TEAS
If you are looking for something a bit more substantial you can pre-book Afternoon Teas or Cheese and Meat Platters, which you can enjoy in the atmospheric surroundings of the Legacy Bar, with its glorious views of Lindores Abbey and the river Tay beyond.

The Legacy Bar
Leave all your worries behind and retreat to our cosy yet sophisticated Legacy Bar for a dram or a delicious Aqua Vitae cocktail. The Legacy Bar is named as such as it embodies our ethos; marrying together our rich history with the view over the ruins and our future with the hum of distillation coming through from the adjacent still house; it is the ideal place to relax with friends and drink in the atmosphere.
The Legacy Bar is open until 4pm during normal opening hours and on Friday evenings until 11pm. We also offer a selection of Scottish Cheese and meat platters to accompany your drams and cocktails which are exclusive to the Legacy Bar (must be pre booked).
We can exclusively hire out the Legacy Bar for private or corporate events, so get in touch with the Events Team if you would like to know more.
We try to ensure that all our visitors have a safe and enjoyable visit regardless of their access requirements. We are very dog friendly so registered assistance dogs are very welcome on site, as are any four legged friends, and we have water bowls outside for them. Disabled parking is available 5 metres from our entrance. The Apothecary and Visitor Centre are all on one level with disabled toilets. We have a lift available to the second floor and Legacy Bar.
Dietary requirements – At our Events and Weddings we always ask for dietary requirements and our chef goes to great lengths to prepare special dishes for these guests. For our Afternoon Teas, Cheese and Meat Platters and at our BBQ’s we will always do our best to provide gluten free options plus we always make sure we use stock in the soup that doesn’t contain gluten or any form of meat or fish. If you have any other specialised dietary requirements, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Make more of your visit to the distillery and stay in our cozy Candlemaker Cottage. With beautiful views, cosy rooms and a roaring fire, our quaint, traditional family cottage that can sleep up to 6 people is a homely and comfortable country bolthole.
The cottage is close to the distillery and allows you to explore all of Fife. Included in your stay we offer two free cocktails in the Legacy bar.Stay a spell
