Learning all about the processes and history of whisky making on one of our Distillery Tours at Lindores Abbey Distillery. Find out what goes into producing whisky, and once you’ve learned the ins and outs of distilling, you’ll be able to try two delicious drams for yourself! We even provide little takeaways for the drivers so no need to drink and drive. Tours are available at 10:30am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
In common with every Scotch whisky distillery, we cease to produce whisky for a certain periods each year to allow for essential maintenance and improvement works to our production facilities. In 2019 the distillery will not be operational from 21st-27th May and then Friday 12th July to Sunday 21st July.
Although the distillery is not operational during this time, this is when our 5-star visitor experience really comes into its own. Our beautiful visitor centre with its Cloister exhibition, our Abbey ruins and our atmospheric warehouse are unaffected by the production downtime, ensuring a fascinating visit whatever the time of year. Our Tours are also reduced to £10 during this period.
- Access to the distillery production area may be restricted, and on some days will not be available, so it may be best to check in advance before booking.
If you are needing a bit of refreshment while you are visiting us or taking a tour, we do have self-serve hot and cold drinks as well as crisps and other snacks available to buy from our Visitor Centre, or you can PRE BOOK and choose from one of our:

For light lunches and a more extensive menu, we are very lucky to have some fantastic local eateries nearby such as the Buttercup Café and Café Alice. The Buttercup Cafe is at the end of our road and Cafe Alice is in Newburgh, just 2 minutes drive, or 5 minutes walk away.
The Legacy Bar
Leave all your worries behind and retreat to our cosy yet sophisticated Legacy Bar for a dram or a delicious Aqua Vitae cocktail. The Legacy Bar is named as such as it embodies our ethos; marrying together our rich history with the view over the ruins and our future with the hum of distillation coming through from the adjacent still house; it is the ideal place to relax with friends and drink in the atmosphere.
The Legacy Bar is open until 4pm during normal opening hours and on Friday evenings until 11pm. We also offer a selection of Scottish Cheese and meat platters to accompany your drams and cocktails which are exclusive to the Legacy Bar (must be pre booked).
We can exclusively hire out the Legacy Bar for private or corporate events, so get in touch with the Events Team if you would like to know more.
