We are delighted to mark International Women’s Day this year, 8th March, with the launch of The Sister Spirit, a limited-edition release of just 89 bottles from beautiful Australian red wine barriques. £5 from the sale of each bottle will be donated to OurWhisky, a foundation which supports and empowers women in the global whisky industry.
The Sister Spirit refers not just to the brilliant women of Lindores Abbey and the wider whisky industry, but also to our two spirit stills, named after two sisters, Gee and Poppy McKenzie-Smith. Much like their human counterparts, they have very different characters but complement each other perfectly.
The bottling was chosen by our Chief Blender, Lorena Baez-Subiabre, who we have to thank for creating many of our award-winning drams over the years. The bottle bears her signature, alongside that of Helen McKenzie-Smith, who co-founded the distillery with her husband Drew.
Helen commented: “While we recognize the progress being made in whisky, there is still work to be done to ensure that women have the opportunities, recognition, and representation they deserve. By donating a portion of sales to the OurWhisky Foundation, we hope to empower and uplift the talented women who make whisky what it is today—and what it will become in the future.”
The bottle is available to purchase online or at the Distillery.
