We are delighted to bring our award-winning 1494 Single Malt Scotch Whisky to whisky lovers the world over. Matured in a selection of Bourbon Barrels, Wine Barriques and Sherry Butts, 1494 is Lindores' signature single malt whisky, and our origin story in a glass. The barley used in its production is grown in the same fields where the monks of Lindores once cultivated their crops, and the orchard of fruit trees that surrounds the abbey finds its way into the whisky's flavour profile. Nectere is Lindores Abbey's fully Sherry-matured single malt and the latest addition to our updated core range. The name comes from the Latin conectere - to link, to bind, to connect - reflecting both the philosophy behind this whisky and what it delivers in the glass: a pure nectar. It brings together the pioneering spirit of the monks who first distilled at Lindores Abbey in 1494 and the living tradition of Sherry production in Jerez, uniting centuries of knowledge in a single expression.
The whisky is matured exclusively across four Sherry cask styles: Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado and Palo Cortado. Each contributes its own distinct layer of character: dark fruit, warm spice, nuttiness and depth. Using all four styles together in a single malt is uncommon in the industry, and finding the balance between them is where the craft lies. In Nectere, that balance has been found - four styles, united in one liquid.

Friar John '26 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is matured exclusively in Ruby Port casks and bottled at 52.5% ABV, delivering rich, fruit-driven depth alongside a bold, full-bodied strength.
Released annually, it stands as a fitting tribute to the man at the heart of Lindores' whisky legacy. The name commemorates Friar John, the Lindores Abbey monk who, in 1494, was commissioned by King James IV to distil Aqua Vitae, creating the earliest written record of Scotch whisky.
Every 1st June, our whiskymakers gather to mark the day Friar John received his royal commission, selecting the finest casks in the warehouse to create an exceptional single malt in his name. It's both a celebration and a ritual: a yearly act of remembrance for the friar whose work at Lindores Abbey over five centuries ago laid the foundation for everything we distil today.
With Lindores Abbey’s widely recognised links to the earliest written reference to Scotch Whisky and learning as much as we can from the great Scottish distillers around us, past and present, we are bringing a very modern whisky-making approach to this ancient site.
